Apple scab weapon
APPLE scab control in commercial orchards should be eased thanks to new fungicide Benocap, says manufacturer DowElanco.
Active ingredient flusilazole may be well-known to cereal growers but this is its first appearance in the UK horticultural sector. "Benocap can be used during April and May, when temperatures are usually 9-12C, widening the spray window," says the companys Rene Pollak.
First spray should go on at bud burst before disease development, at 125g/ha. Repeat applications can be made every 7-10 days up to two weeks before harvest. *
