Appointments in agriculture

  • Jim Harley has been appointed president of the UK Agricultural Supply Trade Association. Mr Harley has been a member of UKASTAs Scottish Council since its formation in 1977.
  • Ian Smith, managing director of Midland Shires Farmers, is the new vice-president.
  • Alec McKee, managing director of John Deere, has been appointed president of the Agricultural Engineers Association.
  • In other boardroom developments, David Danson becomes chief executive of United Auctions; Len Yull chairman of the Timber Growers Association; Bill Hird chairman of the National Office of Animal Health, with David Thatcher as vice chairman; while Ronnie Black has been elected president of the Clydesdale Horse Society.
