Andoversford was the venue for the Cotswold Horse and Pony Sale. Vehicles, machinery and implements – as well as 70-plus horses and ponies – were forward. Best two prices were £1290 for an eight-year-old black gelding, and £1225 for an eight-year-old chestnut gelding hunter. Among the deadstock, meanwhile, prices included £2950 for a MF 575 Tractor (R reg), £1000 for a Ward three-horse trailer, and £900 for a Rice aluminium horse trailer. (Tayler and Fletcher)

Hydraulically adjustable disc angle, from 0í to 25í, and folding wings are incorporated on Vaderstads XT range of trailed discs. Available with working widths from 3.4m to 6.2m (11ft 2in to 20ft 4in), the five-model range uses 660mm (26in) diameter discs, 42mm (1.7in) diameter steel axles and cushioned rubber blocks to absorb shock loads. On all models the hydraulic cylinders automatically lock the sections in both extended and transport positions. Prices start from £10,700.

The herd, almost three-quarters of which is in its third lactation or younger, had a margin over concentrates of £1119. It has been well known over the past decade for the production of cheese and ice cream – annual output of which grew to 7t and 50,000litres respectively.

Lemkens Posi-Steer front-mounted press is now fitted with an overload safety device, which protects the tractors steering system should the press wheels run up against an obstacle in the field. The "active steering" press comprises four 720mm (29in) diameter wheels, and is priced from £3500.
