Seed samplers…

Members of the Pseedco management team check out a sample of Saturna seed potatoes in Scotland. The company has recently been set up by four of the UKs leading potato companies – Anglian Produce, South of England Potato Seeds, Branston Potatoes and A &#42 Worth & Co – to market commercial seed and high health status starter tubers from Scotland. Business manager Stephen Hole (far right) expects the company to be shifting up to 25,000t of seed to ware growers supplying the four shareholders in England, so improving traceability. Seed growers will be offered fixed price contracts by Pseedco, with quality premiums available. Also pictured (left to right) are Mike Inglis, Susanne Dow and Alastair Redpath.

New flagship for the JCB range of Robot skid-steer loaders is the 185. Powered by a 75hp Perkins engine, it has a rated lift capacity of 850kg, dump height of 2.54m and reach of 67.4cm when at maximum dump angle of 45í. As with the two other models (the 150 and 165) the 185 employs a single lift mast to allow safe driver access through a side door. A comprehensive range of attachments is available. Price is £20,595.

This 6m (20ft) wide Flexi-coil combination cultivator comprises a scrubber bar with built-in Dutch harrow tines, followed by a cambridge roller, four rows of straight tines and twin coils; power requirement is 120-150hp. There are also 3m (10ft) and 4m (13ft) versions available, and all models can be used either in combination with a drill or as stand-alone units. Prices start from £8000.

Lemken has updated the massive 8m (26ft) wide version of its Terradisc cultivator. Badged "System Giant 9", the cultivator retains its modular design in which two 4m Terradisc tine/disc units are coupled to a wheeled chassis. But those tine/disc units now comprise two box-section frames as opposed to three on the previous machine. Price of the Lemken "System Giant 9" cultivator is £24,500.
