SIMMERS LTD, the Scottish pig business that recently went into receivership, is rising from the ashes – courtesy of owner Arthur Simmers.
He is heading a new company called Scotpigs which has arranged to buy the business, according to joint receivers PricewaterhouseCoopers.
No details were disclosed about the transaction. At one time Simmers had 16,000 sows on more than 1214ha (3000 acres).
The Simmers pigs business folded in September with estimated debts of £10 million.
