World food production can be increased by 2050 but only if a step change is made in agriculture, according to a paper published in the journal Science.

The paper, Food Security: The Challenge of Feeding 9 Billion People, has been produced by a team which includes the government’s chief scientific adviser Prof John Beddington.

Prof Beddington was interviewed on the BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Friday morning (Jan 29). Listen to the interview.
