Australia targets EU over subsidies

AUSTRALIA will have the European Unions generous subsidy system at the top of its agenda when it enters talks with Brussels on trade, according to the Financial Times.

Australia puts tariffs on imported agricultural products of up to 5%, but over the last few years it has made rapid progress in opening up its markets.

Australia hopes to help force changes on the EU in conjunction with other countries in the next world trade round.
