Austrian example?

AUSTRIAN rules limiting the transport of livestock for slaughter to six hours are being studied by the European Commission.

Live transports through Austria were often impossible due to the restrictions, said Euro-MP Jan Mulder. Farm commissioner, Franz Fischler agrees that its maximum six-hour journey time would make it impossible to transport live slaughter animals to Austria from most member states. He is seeking clarification on whether the limit is applied from the place of departure or at the Austrian border.
