Baileys Holsteins reach 6000gns

THE Baileys herd of Holstein and Holstein Friesians, including 11 lots of true-red and red-factor cattle, sold to 6000gns when Andrew Bailey dispersed his herd at Chester last weekend.

Grant Haven Nellie Red, a 10,000kg fourth calver by A Odyssey Maximum ET-Red, made the top price to M A and R A Bown, Handley Castle, Worcs. She calved in August and was champion red at the Royal Show in 1995 and 1996.

At 4600gns, J Gough Ltd, Ellerton, Shropshire, secured Calbrett B G Kathleen, a 13,000kg fourth-calf daughter of Deslacs Boy George-Red and served in July to Brooknook Milestone Red.

Eranda Counselor Leola 8th, a 12,000kg fourth calver, made 3800gns to Miss C A Moody, Essex. Her July born heifer calf by Juror went to Designer Holsteins, Essex, at 3700gns.

Peter Andrews, Hereford, claimed the 1992-bred cow Eranda Bell Delila 3rd at 3400gns.
