Bar locks on shed doors – no nickers

"IF IT moves, nick it" is becoming common practice in the countryside.

To combat this worrying trend, Surrey-based TacLock has developed a full-width bar lock which, the firm claims, makes shed doors resistant to being forced or kicked open.

The locking device comprises a telescoping steel bar, and comes in three lengths – 101cm, 122cm and 239cm (40in, 48in and 94in).

Securing the device is by padlock in the middle of the bar, except on the smallest model which has its lock at one end. The two bigger models are also available with a built-in lock as an alternative to the standard padlock.

Prices start at £28 (01428-606513).
