BBC rejects allegation of GM food bias

BBC governors have rejected allegations that the broadcaster John Humphrys showed bias in dealing with genetically modified (GM) food.

They ruled that Humphrys, the presenter of the Today programme on Radio 4 and a former organic farmer, did not compromise his impartiality in interviews.

A complainant had taken issue with Humphrys interview with Dr Jack Cunningham, then the minister responsible for co-ordinating policy on GM foods.

The governors said the Cunningham interview had been “characteristically rigorous and persistent – but not biased.”.
