Bead breaker has a gentle touch

BRUTE force, ignorance and grazed knuckles are a few of the factors involved in breaking tyre beads with levers and hammers.

But now, to make the task easier, Spaldings offers a hand-operated bead breaker which, it, says is suitable for changing tyres from 4×4 vehicles up to tractor size.

The Truecraft bead breaker comprises two hinged wedges that are screwed together using a T-bar to separate the tyre from the wheel rim.

Hand-operated and mobile, the bead breaker requires no hydraulic or electrical power to enable tyres to be repaired out in the field. Price £120 (01522-500600).
