Beechbarn top draws 8200gns
MORE than 30 bids of 2000gns and a top price of 8200gns were the highlights of one of this springs most anticipated dairy dispersals when Middlesex farmers John and Rosemary Silver offered their Beechbarn herd of Holstein Friesians.
Essex breeder Cath Moody paid the top price at Crewe for Hanoverhill Charles Reanna, an imported Oct 1996-bred heifer out of the top Canadian cow, the 14,000kg Hanover-Hill-R Roxy Russ. She joins her Radleygreen herd in Essex.
Best of the Erma family, founded on the 13000kg Shalama Starbuck Erma 3rd, was Beechbarn BPC Erma 2nd, a February calved heifer by Bushy-Park Chesapeake-Twin. She realised 5700gns to F Mawer and Son, Grantham.
The second calver Beechbarn Astre Dixie, out of Bond Haven Lindy Debra, made 5600gns to Tony Varnam and Sons, Coleshill, Warwicks. She calved in March after an 8824kg heifer lactation.
