Beef group criticises supermarkets
SUPERMARKETS are under fire from a group of beef farmers who last year castigated the big retailers for their dominance of the market.
The Scottish Livestock Initiative on Marketing (SLIM), formed by a core of seven farmers last year, has warned of a “powerful processor axis driven by the retailers”.
They have repeated their fears that livestock auctions are likely to become redundant leaving producers unable to find alternative markets.
