JIM Begg, the current commercial director of the Dairy Industry Federation, has been appointed director general with effect from 1 July.
Mr Begg takes over from John Price, who has been director general since 1986 and is now leaving the DIF to become company secretary at Express Dairies.
Gordon Summerfield, DIF president, said: “We have selected Jim Begg from a strong field of external candidates. He is well known and respected in the industry, and takes over with the good wishes of the membership.”
Mr Begg, 47, has worked for the DIF since 1988. He previously worked at the Milk Marketing Board and the Scottish Milk Marketing Board.
