Belgiums second BSE cow is culled
BELGIAN authorities have confirmed a second case of BSE in their national dairy herd – a five-year-old cow from Flanders.
The animal first started showing signs of the disease in February and was taken for immediate slaughter and analysis. On confirmation of the condition last week, the 48 remaining cows in the herd were destroyed.
The Belgian ministry is now tracking down all other animals that had previously left the herd so that they too can be culled.
