Beware beetles

POLLEN beetle represents a greater threat to UK oilseed rape crops than expected this season.

The first beetles were caught in ADAS traps on Apr 9 and are now being found in crops, advises ADAS entomologist Alan Lane.

The spraying threshold has been dropped from 15 to 5 beetles/plant and three beetles a plant for spring rape. Insecticide supplier AgrEvo believes two sprays may be required if crops are held back by bad weather. &#42
