WORRIED about blackgrass resistance? There may still be time to take seed samples this season, says researcher Stephen Moss of IACR-Rothamsted.

"It is getting late, but perhaps not too late, especially in some crops like spring linseed and sugar beet." ADAS Boxworth and Oxford Plant Sciences both offer tests for resistance, he notes.

GROWERS who suspect they have herbicide-resistant blackgrass can send seed to ADAS for testing.

At least 3000 dry seeds (from about 150 heads) should be placed in a paper envelope and sent to the ADAS plant diagnostic laboratory in Cambridge. Further details on 01223-455879.
