Blood fertiliser full of promise
BLOOD and bone-meal will be available as a liquid suspension fertiliser throughout the UK this season after encouraging results in 1995, says importer Nu-Trel Products.
Nu-Gro, said to be widely used in Australia and New Zealand, has an NPK analysis of 8:8:7 and includes "a good range" of trace elements, organic constituents and two growth promoters – gibberellic acid and triacontanol.
Foliar fertilisers can be particularly valuable on stressed crops unable to absorb nutrients from dry soils, says the firms John Wilkinson. The new material, whose organic content is said to act as a useful sticker/spreader for other sprays, costs £3.50/litre. Typical application rate is 2.5-5litres/ha.
