Brazilian drought lifts coffee prices
COFFEE prices rose sharply yesterday on the latest estimates of damage to Brazils 2000/2001 crop.
Leon Yalouz, formerly an agronomist with the US department of agriculture, was reported to have put the crop at between 25 million and 27.5m 60kg bags.
The forecast was sharply lower than the governments estimate of 28.9m.
