Bridgets brings it home

ADAS Bridgets, Winchester, is the second of the farmers weekly/ Coop de Pau-monitored sites to have harvested its maize, with three of the other sites imminent.

Dry matter for the six remaining sites averaged 26% on Sept 7 – this compares with 22.4% at this stage last year and only 20.5% for 1993. The harvesting of the Carmarthen site will be in the next week to 10 days, with this possibly the best site for the season.

"Overall quality will be high this year due to the good finish on most of the cobs," says James Woodbridge, of Coop de Paus UK agents Grainseed. "This years conditions, and the early-maturing varieties available, will enable producers to get on to the maize land earlier than ever before." &#42
