Britain prepares for end of beef ban
The Financial Times confidently predicts that the European Union will announce today (Wednesday) the end of the three-year beef export ban from 1 August.
The newspaper reprises events of the last three years and looks at the plans made for the industry to recover lost markets.
The Meat and Livestock Commission says it has identified buyers in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. It also sees market potential in South Africa and the Middle East.
Tight controls have been imposed on slaughter houses and meat-handing facilities through which export-bound beef will be directed.
