Brown set for deal with Italy
By FWi staff
AGRICULTURE Minister Nick Brown will collaborate with his Italian counterpart Paolo de Castro if it means a better deal for farmers from Agenda 2000.
Following a meeting yesterday, the two ministers pledged to push the European Union for an early review of the European milk quota regime in 2003 instead of 2005.
The UK and Italy both want milk quotas to be abolished.
But the quota system could be extended to at least 2008, according to draft legal texts now circulating in Brussels.
