Buy-back contracts on offer with oilseed crop

INDUSTRIAL crop specialist, John King and Sons of Coggeshall, Essex, is launching two new buy- back contracts for sowing this spring.

Linola is a new oilseed, producing a premium grade oil for human consumption, with uses ranging from biscuit making to margarine manufacture. The meal by-product is used in animal feed.

The contract offers growers a guaranteed £170/t ex-farm for harvest 1996, subject to quality. Area aid is as for linseed. Seed contracts can earn £90/t more.

Kings is also opening its High Euricic Acid Rapeseed (HEAR) contract for spring-sown crops, used for high grade lubricants and polythene slip agents.

As with the autumn HEAR contract, growers are offered £165/t for rape grown on set-aside land, with collection between October and December.

A "main oilseeds regime" contract is also available at £200/t, designed to top up supplies to meeet the increased demand for erucimide from processor Croda Universal in Hull. &#42
