Buyers keen on low price cows

BUYERS at the Wivelscombe herd of Holstein Friesians dispersed for Tim Willcocks at Emlgate, Saltash, Cornwall pushed bidding to 510gns for a dry cow as part of the regular sale of dairy cattle at Hallworthy Stockyard, Camelford.

By Mussbee Inspired, due soon with her third calf, the cow had given 8036kg in her second lactation.

A Madawaska Aerostar daughter due with her second realised 500gns. Bulling heifers reached 210gns to level at 185gns and in-calf heifers hit 430gns.

"There was a good crowd, but a lot of buyers are looking for low price animals including milk-and-kill cows," said a spokesman for auctioneers KVN Stockdale. &#42
