Canada to act on grain strike
THE Canadian government is to introduce legislation designed to end strikes that have disrupted grain exports at Vancouver.
But the union representing the striking grain weighers has said it might still ignore the law.
About 70 grain weighers at Vancouvers loading terminals have staged strikes over pay in the last few months.
The terminals are currently being operated by management after a strike this week.
More than 40% of Canadas grain exports are shipped through Vancouver, or about 250,000 tonnes of grain a week.
