Canadian producers plead for help
CANADIAN wheat and pork producers are up in arms over a lack of
Government support for a sector which is facing extreme hardship.
The federal Government is considering a C$900 million (£357m) two-year package which would help farmers whose incomes drop more than 70% from last year.
The Canadian Federation of Agriculture is calling for additional state intervention.
Wheat farmers and hog producers have seen prices pushed below their costs of production.
Predictions of future price movements are that they will get worse.
