FURTHER environmental conditions could be attached to CAP payments under government plans to widen cross-compliance.
The Rural White Paper states that government officials "are committed to looking for ways of extending cross-compliance wherever it is practicable and sensible to do so".
On Monday the DoE will publish a study, jointly commissioned with the Dutch ministry of agriculture, which examines the scope for wider application of cross-compliance conditions.
The report by the Institute of European Environmental Policy considers examples of cross-compliance from within the EU and beyond and discusses policy options for extending its role.
