Cargill plans to buy Japanese food group

CARGILL, the worlds largest grain dealer, plans to buy a Japanese foodstuffs company that filed for bankruptcy last December.

Cargill has a presence in Japan already. It said it wanted to buy foodstuffs group Toshoku to take advantage of its expertise and distribution network for grain, feed and meat.

Cargill has annual sales worth $51 billion (£30 billion).
