Caterpillar plans to lift generator sales

CATERPILLAR plans to triple its sales of power-generating equipment.

The Illinois-based company is looking to boost its activities in diesel-powered generating equipment, particularly in Asia and South America. It will do this partly by linking MaK Motoren, its German subsidiary, with the rest of its mainly US-based engine products division.

Caterpillar is the worlds biggest maker of earthmoving machines, with $16.5 billion (£10bn) of sales last year.
