Change in attitude as farmers march on
FIFTEEN to twenty per cent of the wheat crop has been combined in Kent, says John Smith of Weald Granary.
“There has been a change in attitude and farmers are marching on. To preserve quality, farmers will be willing to combine between 18-20% and then use their drying facilities.”
The quality of the crop has improved. Malacca and Hereward now have protein reaching 13% and the Hagbergs are OK.
Weather is the main concern, with no significant areas combined over the weekend.
