Chucking out dirt

EIGHT ounces of dust through the air intake is enough to ruin an engine, says Brigade Electronics, which has recently developed the Tornado engine pre-cleaner.

Key to its efficiency is the use of an impeller within the pre-cleaner housing, which is driven by incoming air and acts as a centrifuge. In doing so it throws dirt particles to the outside of the unit, forcing them to exit from the cleaner via an exhaust outlet.

The result of this action, claims the firm, is that the Tornado removes 96% of airborne particles before air reaches the engines air filter. And filter life is increased threefold.

Prices of Brigade Electronics Tornado pre-cleaner start at £100 (0181-852-3261).
