CJDcase evidence

GOVERNMENT has commissioned Dr Robert Will at the CJD Surveillance Unit, Edinburgh, to see if there is any evidence of a clustering of new variant CJD cases in the UK. Latest figures released this week from the Department of Health show 20 cases of nvCJD have now been recorded.

It was scientists suggestions last March that the disease could be caused by exposure to the BSE agent that triggered the beef crisis.
