Cleavers killer delayed to 97
NEW cleavers killer quinmerac is unlikely to be introduced before autumn 1997, says Martin Lainsbury, BASFs development agronomist.
BASF had hoped to introduce the new product last autumn, in a formulation with metazachlor (as in Butisan) to control a range of broad-leaved weeds in oilseed rape.
However, the Pesticides Safety Directorate requested more information on the herbicides movement to surface water, a topic which is coming under increasing scrutiny in the UK, explains Mr Lainsbury.
Tests have been carried out this winter and will be assessed during the summer. *
