Co-op unveils best results for 22 years
THE Cooperative Wholesale Society has unveiled its best trading results for 22 years.
The group, which has 600 Co-op stores, has reported a 6.6% like-for-like food sales growth for the five-week Christmas period to 2 January.
Retail controller Malcolm Hepworth said the recently reintroduced Dividend returned £10 million to customers over Christmas, but most was immediately re-spent.
The “Divi” was dropped in the 1980s, but reintroduced last February.
