Co-operate with scrapie survey, urges Government
THE Government yesterday (Thursday) asked farmers to co-operate with its survey of scrapie in the national sheep flock.
There are 500 cases of scrapie confirmed each year but scientists suspect this figure could be understated by a factor of 10.
Scientists are concerned that some suspected cases of scrapie in sheep may in fact be BSE passed from cattle.
