ARTHUR SIMMERS, the Scottish pig producer whose empire went bust earlier this year owing millions of pounds, is back in business.

Mr Simmers, his wife and two sons, successfully bid for the three Simmers companies which collapsed into receivership in August owing £11 million.

The new company, Scotpigs, is taking on all 116 employees from the old companies – A Simmers, A Simmers (Farms) and A Simmers (Cairnbogie).

Simmers was previously Scotlands biggest pig breeding operation with 16,000 sows on 1214ha (3000 acres) of land.
