Come and see if whole-crop is for your farm

INTERESTED in whole-crop cereals? Then, whether a newcomer to the crop or not, the first Maize Growers Association Whole Crop Cereals conference is an important date for your diary.

An attractive menu intends to show how to improve production from cows using either fermented or urea-treated whole-crop.

Speakers include a Danish producer who uses fermented whole-crop in his dairy ration to achieve a 9300-litre average at 3.76% fat and 3.52% protein.

He is joined by farm managers Will Armitage, who intends to feed both types of whole-crop to his 11,400-litre herd this year, and Jonathan Wilson, who talks on protein and profit from the crop.

There will also be an update on the latest whole-crop cereal research.

The event, which costs £20 a head, will be held at Myerscough College, Lancs, on Thur, Feb 1. Details available from the MGA (01225-337566). &#42
