Commodities to boom in Japan

COMMODITY trading is getting ready to boom in Japan, according to an analysis by the Financial Times.

The boom is expected because the deregulation of investment trusts has eliminated minimum investment requirements and cut the tax burden on funds sold through Japanese trust banks.

Another factor attracting investors is that Japanese trust banks have been allowed recently to handle commodity funds for the first time.

This right used to be restricted to overseas banks, which are viewed with suspicion by Japanese investors.
