Council makes £581,500 on Cheshire unit

ON behalf of Cheshire County Council, a 62-acre smallholding near Prestbury was recently sold at auction for £581,500.

Split into five lots, Mill Lane Farm, Mottram St Andrew, included an unimproved three-bedroomed farmhouse which, lotted with some traditional buildings and 4.56 acres, achieved £280,000 – the guide was £200,000.

"Being located in a sought-after area where few farms are sold helped generate interest from neighbours and adjoining land-owners," said John Unterhalter of agents The Brown Rural Partnership.

The bulk of the land was split into three lots, with 16.41 acres of pasture averaging £3900/acre, and £129,000 (£7674/acre) paid for 16.81 acres of poor quality grassland. &#42
