THE Countryside Agency will spearhead efforts next spring to relaunch the countryside and revitalise rural businesses after foot-and-mouth disease.
Ewen Cameron, agency chairman, said officials would work in partnership with local authorities to promote rural areas. The government had come up with a series of aid packages during the F&M crisis and some of this money was still available, he added.
"If we can relaunch the countryside, rebrand it in the spring then I hope we wont need more funds, Mr Camerons told the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee on Nov 21. *
