Crackdown on worrying

LANDOWNERS have called for a crackdown on the scourge of livestock worrying, in the wake of a report that marauding dogs killed more than 22,000 sheep last year.

The Country Landowners Assoc-iation has urged both urban and rural dog owners to discipline their pets following reports from insurance group NFU Mutual that there has been a 20% increase in livestock deaths due to dog worrying.

"All owners, country-dwellers and visitors from towns and cities, have a duty to keep their animals under adequate control and ensure they do not present any threat to livestock," a CLA spokesman said. &#42
