Crop Workshops spread message

RESEARCH and development findings from the Royal Agricultural College will be shared more widely through a series of Crop Workshops in the New Year.

The meetings, to be reported in FARMERS WEEKLY, kick off on Jan 12 with a day-long seminar and group exercise on Developing Integrated Farming Systems.

Pilot farm studies at Harnhill, Glos and Trerulefoot, Cornwall will be used to demonstrate the integrated approach, emphasising challenges and achievements so far. Speakers will include staff from the RAC and IACR-Long Ashton.

Topics of future workshops include:

&#8226 Getting the best from oilseed rape and field beans

&#8226 Getting the best out of grassland systems for silage production

&#8226 Improving herbicide performance and weed management in combinable crops

&#8226 Profiting from farm woodland planting.
