Cultivation unit for range of conditions

SEEN for the first time at Cereals 98 was Lelys 6m GPS Cultisystem – a combination of the companys Cultiterra, Polymat pneumatic drill and Poly Liner front-mounted seed hopper.

The seed hopper has a 1200 litre capacity as standard and 1800 litres if extension panels are specified. Seed is metered by two electrically driven units – each feeding one half of the drill – with their operational speeds controlled either by a ground speed related system or from information provided through a GPS system.

A fan-powered hydraulically or, if available, by the front pto conveys the seed to the drills two distribution heads and then by individual pipes down to the coulters.

The drill unit is preceded by the Cultiterra – a cultivation section comprising a levelling board followed by two rows of heavy duty pigtail spring tines and roller. Weight of the drill when in work is carried on the roller.

If conditions are difficult, the cultivation unit can be replaced with a 6m Roterra power harrow.

which, like the drill and cultivator, folds vertically to create a transport width of 2.8m.

Standard equipment includes a tramlining kit and hydraulic coulter lift while options include a range of different roller types to suit particular ground conditions.

Price of the 6m Cultisystem starts at £32,797.
