Forage maize move
AS the boundary of the UK maize growing area continues to progress north, this year for the first time, the autumn Maize Growers Association (MGA) Forage Maize Event, until now held at CEDAR, Reading, is moving north to Reaseheath College, Nantwich, Cheshire.
This major event for dairy farmers growing forage maize takes place on Thurs, Oct 26.
Maize crops will be harvested into two newly built clamps, using different ensiling techniques, and a wide range of maize harvesting machinery will be in action.
There will also be National Institute of Agricultural Botany trial plots to inspect, a forage forum with well known maize experts, including Gordon Newman and Geoff Vickers, giving advice on harvesting and feeding maize, trade stands and a special presentation by event organisers, the MGA.
The utilisation of whole-crop cereals will also be featured at the event.
