TORRIDGE Vale, a co-op of 47 dairy farmers in Devon, launched its processing plant and Definitely Devon-branded products to the trade this week.

It will produce clotted cream, liquid creams and milks, and intends to extend its range. The first marketing push will be on traditionally-made clotted cream.

The plant is at the former Dairy Crest factory at Torrington, and cost £1.75 million. About half came from EU and MAFF grants.

Branding and promotion highlight Devons “good and wholesome” image, traditional production methods, full traceability of milk and the RSPCA Freedom Foods accreditation of all members.
