Last weeks launch of Colum-bus eggs, which are marketed as being healthier, could help develop a niche market for UK producers. Produced by feeding laying hens a diet containing fish and vegetable oils rich in omega 3 fatty acids, these eggs could reduce the risk of heart disease, blood clots and other heart irregularities, says to Belgian-based egg processor Belovo.
