Do you have a top carcass?
COMMERCIAL sheep farmers are being invited to take part in a competition to find the top Charollais cross carcass.
Sponsored by the Charollais Sheep Society and the North Country Primestock marketing group, the competition will run from March 11 to the end of April.
Competitors are invited to select pens of five or more early lambs in the 16kg to 21kg deadweight range by the Charollais and out of Mules, Mashams or Down breeds.
They will be collected free of charge by NCP and slaughtered at Kepak abattoir at Bamber Bridge, Preston. They will be paid for on a fixed grid based on the lamb price for the week of slaughter.
There will be a prize of £25 for the best average grades in each of the three classes. *
