Dont forget winter peas

WINTER peas should not be forgotten despite disappointing results in 97 and 98, and Nov is the best time to drill, says the Processors and Growers Research Organisation.

"The concepts of the crop are still valid, and there are new varieties coming through with better standing, winter hardiness, and yield," says director, Geoffrey Gent.

Earlier to harvest and more drought tolerant than spring types winter peas offer comparable yield and break crop benefits, he adds. Blizzard is emerging as highest yielder, according to NIAB. &#42
