THE showmanship championship at the Holstein Friesian Young Members Associations 10th anniversary National Calf Show was won by Rickey Barrett of the Irish Holstein Friesian Association.

This is the second year running that Rickey has taken the title but, as reported last week, he was too old to compete in the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, Canada, next month so reserve champion Louise Pickford of Stafforshire will be accompanied on the Semex UK sponsored trip by senior stockjudging winner Matthew Fisher of the Border and Lakeland Club.

The junior championship was won by 14-year old Sarah Eggins of the Devon and Cornwall Club. Her prize is an all expenses paid visit to the 1996 YMA Weekend Rally in the Isle of Man next April sponsored by Bay Farm Tours.

The supreme champion calf was J & V Barlows Painley Starbuck Binky, shown by Christina Hastings of the North Western Club. Reserve was Robert Patersons Airfield CV Marmite shown by Robert Proctor of the Norfolk Club.

The Philip Gilbert award for the top scoring club went to the Dorset & Somerset Club. Equal placed reserves were the Devon & Cornwall and Staffordshire clubs. West Derbyshire was fourth.
